Architonic

'Architonic' - acrylic on canvas, 70 x 100cm, 2013
-FOR SALE-

Just a quick post to show you my newest painting. I called it 'Architonic' as it was inspired by a very architecture-rich interior, with a beautiful combination of geometric forms which gives a lovely contrast against my organic brush strokes.
See back soon for the follow up piece in this series.

My Mulberry Handbag...i wish!

So for a very very long time I have been dreaming of owning a Mulberry handbag...I'm not a big brand collector but if there's one designer item that I want to spend money on it's this!
Beautiful, classic, elegant, rich and pure quality...just one problem...I can't decide which one I want and they are SO expensive so saving up for one takes a little while (but that's ok...gives me more thinking time so I am sure to make the right decision. This is a bag for a lifetime after all..at least you should hope so for that kind of money) ;)

Del Rey, Black & Nickel Grainy Print Leather, €1150

Del Rey, Milk Chocolate Heavy Suede, €1150

So as it stands I am totally in love with the Del Rey...in terms of size, shape and uniqueness it's perfect (although still undecided on the colour). However, despite how chic this bag is, I then begin to hesitate as this one can't hang on your shoulder which leads me to the following more classic, traditional and probably most iconic Mulberry handbags: The Alexa and the Bayswater. These are both more practical on a daily basis as I can get it over my shoulder or across my body when biking around Amsterdam plus they are made from leather as opposed to suede which is better in case it rains.

Alexa, Oak Soft Buffalo, €1150
Bayswater, Black Soft Spongy Leather, €1150 OR Oak Natural Leather, €1000

So what do you think? Leave a comment...

NEW WEBSITE ONLINE NOW!!!

This is a day to remember (and quite coincidentally on indeed a very memorable date that is the 12th of the 12th of the 12th)...my new website is finally ONLINE! Yay! And breathe....

This was a very indecisive process as I came up with many layouts and then decided to buy a template to make things easier which in fact only made it more difficult with many more endless nights and frustrated moments where my laptop nearly hit the floor. BUT...I did learn A LOT about HTML and managed to get it working perfectly before deciding that I didn't want to use it after all and wanted to simplify the layout to make it more user friendly. *smack forehead* I can therefore conclude that as they say in the design world 'less is after all more'...and I love it now. Check it out and let me know what you think!

Affordable Art Fair Amsterdam

This is now a long overdue blogpost...it takes so long to get all these social media sites up and running and then to keep on top of it and personalize them and interact with followers is like a whole other full time job on top of which I've been meaning to get painting again for a very long time - that was the reason why I began this blog afterall so shame on me....

BUT... I have remained creative! About a month ago my housemate from uni came to visit me in Amsterdam and we went to the 'Affordable Art Fair'. This was such an inspiring place for me as an artist not quite in with the big names yet shall we say but trying to get my name and my work out there in the public eye to promote sales and commissions.
The Affordable Art fair is a four-day event hosting a wealth of galleries from around the Netherlands and a large array of contemporary art. It was a very inspiring and friendly atmosphere exhibiting various paintings, prints, sculptures and photography and all under €5000. It is a very simple concept, yet unique showing works of young, emerging artists (like me) alongside some of the biggest names, while the 'Unknown Talent' Exhibition provided a chance to snap up a future masterpiece.

Amongst others, some of my favourite pieces and the ones that stood out and inspired me the most, giving me the urge to get behind my easel again were these...

'New York' by Wilfred Lang, 'A Day by the Sea' by Michael Schuster, 'Plage' by Marc Harrold, 'Herfst' by Ciska van der Meer

I noticed that the ones that caught my attention were the ones using mixed media, giving their art a beautiful 3-dimensional effect - this is something I would like to introduce in my work.

My absolute favourite piece though at the exhibition was the photography art series called 'Plage' by Marc Harrold (pictured below: Plage 4, 6, 10 & 30). I was so drawn in by these pieces as there is so much activity simplified to the purest forms. Despite the loud subject within the art there is a lovely sense of peace from an outsider point of view as if you're sat watching from a sound proof bubble - they're just beautiful to look at.

All-in-all, a very inspiring place which I shall definitely be visiting again next year...maybe even exhibiting (this would be a dream)...
